No Fear Sobe Sugar Free

This is Version 1 of the drink. I have seen the future of this drink, and am on a desperate search to find the new skull filled happy can advertised on their website. Stay tuned….

“We didn’t take out the sugar, it got scared away.” This is the great tagline by Sobe Sugar Free No Fear. What did not get scared away is the great taste. Unfortunately for me, this was not the day to grab a no fear, a couple Spike shooters would have been more appropriate. Deciding on taking on some freelance gigs on top of my work looks great for my wallet, but hurts my sleep patterns terribly, do I went after the strongest drink I could find on my way to work, sleepily stumbling the refrigerated aisle for a potent, knock-me-off-my-ass beverage. The best I found there was no fear, a drink I have had many times, with varying degrees of success. No Fear Sugar Free is concocted as a sports drink in a can, with L-Carnatine, Creatine and soy protein. I slammed the can down in 3 big glops, admired the fantastic taste and sat at my desk waiting the rush of energy. sadly, it was not that spectacular – about 3 hours of alertness and perkiness, before wanting to drop off at my keyboard later. If I did not have the need for fighting off drowsiness, but just my morning addiction, this would have been lovely.

BUZZ/Nutrition:6
Helpfully, the can did a HORRIBLE disservice of not listing caffeine content on it. Instead I had to turn to my trustworthy brethren out there on the blogs for the info. 87 mg of caffeine is not that bad. Not a spike, but a pretty healthy dose for a big can. With 50 mg of guarana to add a little more kick, It did perk me up for a little while. The thing that has always amused me about no fear is their addition of workout mix in with the regular EDM. Of course the can does not label how much it has of creatine, l-carnatine, zinc and soy protein it has, so it is basically worthless if you were to use this as a supplement to a workout. Serious athletes make sure they are getting enough protien and nutrients, tough if you don’t list the amounts in the can. OF course, no one is Really going to confuse this sweet concoction for a protein shake…

Taste:9
Sweetened with sucralose and AceK . very carbonated very sweet and very fruity.Very very tasty – better than most sodas. I could, and probably should have drank a couple cans of this one to get moving. There is also grape seed extract a ton of taurine (2000mg) so it was full of gummy goodness.

Packaging:7
I like the complete and utter mess of this can. There is so much crap on this design it works. They took their old black and silver can and reversed it, then had to fit the sugar free somewhere, and the aluminum can does not reflect anything, barely showing their little globe. The harder you look on the can, the more you can discover – from the handwritten arrows telling you differences in the can, to a white ring around their lizardly globe. I would rank this higher, but the lack of information as to ingredients sucks.

I cant wait until they fix this drink up and release it back upon us.
