Revisiting Unbound energy

I first heard of Unbound energy when it appeared in the super cheapo-discount store chain of Big Lots. This is regularly the place where energy drinks go to die, or at least whither to nothingness. You can usually find half a dozen zombie drinks there, from Hansens garbage that they can’t sell, to leftovers from some poor distribution house stuck with too much stock of a company that has long since given up the ghost.
This bothered me quite a lot with Unbound, for a number of reasons. First, They looked great – covered in a gunmetal look that worked well. Secondly, it completely wired me – more than any monster drink ever would. Thirdly, and most surprisingly, I was completely blown away by the amazing taste! How Hansen’s got hold of this and still mucked things up is a testament to not selling out to the big boys if you believe in your product.

In the beginning, Unbound was made for a line of convenience stores called AM/PM, developed by Unbound and Hansens . Thing was, it was really good. Good enough for Hansen’s to take ownership of the whole thing – coming out with an unbound lo carb and juice as well. But, at the end of the day, Hansens wanted to just make monster – so Joker, Ace and Unbound were unloaded to Big Lots – Where I found them. Thankfully, Bob and Jon at intellibev got hold of me and sent me more of their addictive energy, with their new and vastly cooler packaging.

The makers of Unbound have gotten their product back from Hansens, and managed to improve on what was already a good thing! Now with a new bottle by Ball, they killed their other flavors to concentrate on their one amazing one.

New Amazing Looks! – packaging:10
Not often do I get to give a 10 to just an energy drink – even a kick ass one. Unbound went over the top with this new 16 oz Alumi-Tek Bottle by Ball. It has the look of an old 30’s oil can – or some other steampunkish device. Their new sleek, resealable bottles feature a wide opening that provides a smooth flow for easy chugging, are quick to chill and are 100 percent recyclable. All in all, I have seen few straight-n energy drinks with a can as cool and original as this.
