Arriving in a glow in the dark bottle, I knew this would not be any ordinary caffeinated alcohol. I have tried a number of caffeinated alcohols in the past – with varying degrees of success. But as I checked out this drink late one evening I discovered just how unique and special this drink is! actually glowing in the darkness came this blend of Vodka and Tequila, Caffeine and Ginseng – all wrapped up in an absolutely delicious day-glo green conconction. With a taste unlike any other I have had, and enough energy and mixing power to fuel a 3 night vampire rave, This drink is in a special class, not sacrificing taste or energy on a cool gimmick. If you are looking for something for that untimate late night fun-fest – this is the drink to find.

I tried this drink in many formulations and it makes a fantastic mixer. The blend of alcohols comes out smooth and fruity, with little bite and very very smooth. My favorite recipe was making an explosive martini using Everglo, Connamon Schnapps and V2 Vodka, producing a very energetic amazing purple martini. Another great favorite of mine was using one part everglo, one part blueberry liquor and 3 parts Gin and you get this dark green grassy drink that tastes explodes in your mouth and definitely keeps you going.

There are soo many things this company did right with this drink. Wingard produces everglo – a company also known for creating the V2 line of caffeinated vodka, Caffeinated tequila Caffeinated rum and a very special caffeinated mint vodka. Although those are all very good and tasty, this drink is without doubt one of the most original packages I have seen for a liquor in a very long time. Fronted with a cool looking tribal design, this bottle actually glows in the dark. Everything from the font choices to the labels on the back were very thoughtfully planned out. The glow in the dark aspect is just in the bottle – not in the drink – but the glow in the dark green color perfectly accentuates the green of the drink, making it seem like the alcohol itself glows. While PINK vodka had a stunning design for their flavorless premium vodkas, it looks like Wingard took that as a starting point and brought it to a whole new level.

While there is not a ton of caffeine in here, the point of this drink does not seem to be to give you energy, as much as it uses the caffeine to balance any sleepiness you might have from the alcohol. This drink wont necessarily make you wired, but it will keep you from nodding off at that 3Am rave or that midnight party when sleep should be the farthest thing from your mind.
The alcohold in here is not too strong (only 20 proof), so it is an easy thing to mix with all sorts of drinks without getting overpowered. If I were to say one thing that I would have liked is a more powerful version of this drink that could stand on its own. Like all of Wingard’s caffeinated alcohols, this drink works fantastically mixed in anything, but could be more strong if served chilled in a glass. Still, this is a very small issue for a drink that tastes as smooth delicious as this.
