There are a few tastes it is near impossible to screw with and get right. Very few energy drinks imitate these because it is just too easy to get something so completely wrong and ruin your companies chance to be successful. Root beer is one of those, where there are only a small handful of companies who try to do that flavor profile.
Lemonade is another one that is notoriously hard to master. Too much tart and the drink becomes sour. Too much sugar and you lose the lemonade flavor. You want to make the flavor taste healthy and fresh, but you don’t want to frustrate the country time lemonade crowd. That was why I was excited GURU took this on, because their food scientists usually cook up a very interesting brew.

When dealing with lemonade, there are 2 varieties. The good stuff is made by someone by hand, using real lemon juice, a little cane sugar ( but not too much) and lots of ice. If the maker is feeling particularly frisky, other flavors could be added, like mint leaves, to add just a touch of herbal freshness to the flavor.GURU did it right with this one – managing to pull of a very tasty and healthy flavored lemonade, completely masking all the energy ingredients in here.
The only thing I found that was a little odd was that its finish was more floral, leaving a mild (and not unpleasant) herbal aftertaste.
What this does not taste like is fake Country Time Lemonade flavor. It tastes like real lemons and real sugar, like you decided yo make it yourself. It is a little more salty that I would have imagined too, probably owing to the potassium and other sport drink ingredients. While it does not have that flat salty flavor that Gatorade or Powerade has, you can definitely tell that this has more going on for it than just a great lemonade taste.

This uses the scheme of all the GURU hybrids, going from one color to another with gradated bubbles. Regardless if I think it is a good can design for a lemonade drink is moot – as it is just a beautiful design regardless of what liquid it is holding. The mix of design elements produces one gorgeous color scheme that should definitely be a huge selling factor.
My only issue about the design of this can is it could hold anything – as there is relatively no elements that would point you to the lemonade inside. Sure, the little strip on top does tell you what the drink was, but this could hold anything – as there is no lemon motif, or even a nice lemony yellow used to denote this one like their grapefruit drink.
I also liked how they hid the caffeine listing in an energy blend, then told you how much in their ingredients list. This is the best of both worlds, as this GURU gets to do that goofy “proprietary energy blend” thing, but still gives a caffeine listing for those who want to know. I love the double facing package, so it is easier for store clerk and distributors to face the drinks correctly. The only ting a little off was the position of the cap – where it does not have the logo pointing outwards.

A really cool thing about this GURU is it’s a sport drink disguised as a healthy energy drink . The potassium and electrolytes in here is enough to help hydrate the tired and thirsty athletes after a hard session. I tried this after a particularly grueling workout and felt immediately refreshed – the was a Gatorade does after strenuous exercise. According to the GURU website, this is an isotonic sport drink – which means it will replace fluid lost during exercise. Like the other GURU flavors, the Full On Lemonade is Organic and all natural.
There are a total of 145 milligrams of caffeine in the 12oz drink, which certainly does the trick. Panax Ginseng root extract, Ginkgo biloba leaf extract and Echinea flower extract This is not a particularly explosive mix of ingredients, but does give you a couple hours of extra energy. Not to mention, if you are drinking this as a pre or post workout drink, you do not need the burst of energy as much as you need to fight muscle fatigue and help work a little harder at the gym.
