Mini Thin Rushes are supposed to be for fitness types who are wanting a pick-me-up for their workouts. But dont let a little thing like laziness stop you from one of the best and worst energy shots ever made. Yes, this has one of the best potent concoctions out there, and 4 flavors that go from one of the most horrible things I have put in my mouth to one of the best shots you can savor right out of the bottle.
Nutrition/ BUzzzz: 10
Watch out! Thereis some serious energy packed in here – the likes of which I have not felt in a long time. The 200mg of caffeine hits you with blistering speed, and keeps you bouncing and VERY VERY awake for a good couple hours. Truly, this is stronger and more impressive energywise than most of the other drinks on the gas-store checkout. If you are into the 5 Hour Energys or the NOS powershots, try this little bottle and see if you can feel the difference. Like 5 hour energy, this one does not have any sort of crash – so the energy slowly dissipates.
This is a serious powershot, not for those who are sensitive to caffeine. Really. This is packed with anhydrous caffeine, the lab made variety found in Spike and Redline. They also back over a thousand percent of your USDA suggested value of Vitamin B ( Is that a niacin flush or a sunburn – I can’t tell), 200mg of taurine eluthero root ( also known as Siberian Ginseng). These things have 0 calories, as they are sweetended with sucralose. I have had more nutritious shots before, but as for pure Wake-Up power, there are only a small handful that can match the potency of Mini Thin Rush.
Taste
I was sent ( and thanks for all the samples, btw – very appreciated) 4 different flavors to try, with very different flavor profiles. The interesting thng is that they all taste completely different, with different states of drinkability.
Coffee:1
Could something this watery also have such an awful alcoholic fake coffee flavor? This reminded me of when I tried to make a coffee tincture with vodka in college. This was plain AWFUL! Stay away from this mess at all costs. Not much more to say other than ewwwww
Berry:3
This one reminded me a whole lot of cough syrup. To be specific, there was not much difference between this and drinking the non-alcoholic version of Robitussin. If this was the only kind around, I would still pass it up – even if it did get me quite boosted. This was pretty horrible and hard to choke down.
Lemon Lime:8
Definitely drinkable – and not at all like the flat soda pop most lemon lime drinks usually are. This is a unique blend of citrus and friut, very palatable and tasty – although not as drinkable as the original flavor. Still, there is no tartness or chalky-ness, like there is in most energy shots – and it is uncharacteristically smooth with little medicinal aftertaste.
Original:10
YUM! Coming out a nice pinkish color, I trepidaciously poured this one in my mouth , ready to slug it to the back of my throat if it turned out to be aas nasty as the coffee – but no need! I was almost savoring this flavor, as it was like drinking a nice strongly flavored Kool-aid. This drink truly surprised me by how easy it was to drink and how flavorful and delicious it tasted. I can’t reommend this more highly – if you like powershots give this flavor a try.
Packaging:6
Standard for energy shots – not unique , but not horrible. They did make one small error though, but did exceed 5 hour energy’s information. They only print the flavor on the top label, so if you are like me and have a couple of them open, it becomes harder to identify which one is which without opening and smelling/tasting them. It would have been nice if the flavor was written somewhere on the actualy package as opposed to just the cap. I really do appreciate the listing of caffeine as well as other nutrients, something many powershots dont bother with. The rest of the label is pretty blah – not over the top but not goofy either. Lots of advertising, with everything form starbursts to bullet points. While not bad, it is pretty average.
Website:4 www.minithinrush.com
Very nice simple site – but certainly not for this type of audience they are trying to reach. It looks great and works nicely – not overdoing it with unneeded garbage like games or downloads. You can find out about the product, order it, find out where to buy it or watch an ad about it. It loads very quickly and should have a really wide appeal. It is also coded very nicely, so there should not be any issues seeing it on older browsers. My issues with it are a lack of information about the company itself, and using girl-heavy bikini laden pictures for it. While on a sexy drink or one used to promote sex, LAN parties or extreme sports, I could see using bikini contests and Geek Gamers at conventions, but it just does not fit for a company trying to appeal to athletes. If you have a specific market you are reaching for, the website is supposed to be an extension of that. I was expecting something more athletic, with healthy working out people or swimmers, not extreme mountain bikers, snowboarding videos and beach bunnies jiggling and giggling.
