Rage Sugar Free

Rage is put out by Pinnacle Exclusives, and they advertise that they will make Rage to fit any country’s drink and nutritional specifications, and not compromise on taste. This is the last of the cans they sent my way – which is unfortunate. I love Rage drinks, and while Ripped is second on my list from them, it is still a great energy drink, and one I would pick up again in a heartbeat.

Until I read Taurine Rules new entry, I never even guessed it said the word “Ripped” above rage. Other than that, the can is lovely, following the themes of both their other offerings. This one does not list the calories, but that is obviously an international issue, as Canada does not have the same standards for labeling as the US. The design wraps fully around the can, so there is no need for the “second label” so your can is not missed if shelved wrongly in the convenience store. There is all the product information about rage and pinnacle, along with emails and websites. They have full disclosure of all ingredients, and list caffeine and taurine content. But the miss on the brand name is a pretty big miss. This is definitely where printing a third color would come in handy. The “follow no rules” stamp they have on the can is just as washed out by the dark blue background. I like the overall chain link idea, I just wish it went for the extra cost and got another color in the printing job.

Taste:8
Rage keeps surprising me with flavors completely unexpected. I imagined from teh color of the san and the Sugar Free nature that this drink was either going to be a sugar free version of their flagship drink, or a blue drink to mirror Monster or Rockstar sugar free versions. Instead, I was surprised by a light berry drink, looking great with a purplish berry hue. This drink tastes very fruity and sweet, using Ace K and sucralose to completely mask the lack of sugar.

Nutrition:8
Like the other Rage I tried, this drink has Creatine in the mix. Creatine is used mostly by bodybuilders to gain muscle mass. However when they take it as a supplement, it is usually measured in grams, not milligrams. 50mg is not really enough to do anything unless you plan on drinking cases of this stuff. Creatine can also cause nausea and diarrhea, so there are some pros and cons to adding this into your energy drinks..

This drink has the usual cast of characters, 2000 mg of taurine, glucuronolactone, ginseng, inositol and B Vitamins. And while, like the other Rages, there is no calorie count on the can, I imagine it is quite low. There is 200mg of caffeine in the entire can, like Asylum and the original red can. The use of Ace-K is great, although I wish there was no sucralose. Still, better than if they used aspartame.
