Re5 is a beautiful can of patriotic energy. Made in Austria by the same people at Prilabs that make 24:7 and Encore, this drink is trying to capture the American spirit. Really, if I had to choose a drink to go into the redneck country with my goth red duster, my purple hair and big red boots, I know I would be safe around the gun nuts and confederate flag waving Walmart shopping SUV drivin snake handling crowd with one of these cans in my fist.Unlike Ol’ Glory, which seems to almost be a mockery of patriotism, this can shouts I AM AN AMERICAN ENERGY DRINK, as loudly as a drink can. Which is amusing, seeing as it is made in Austria.
From the press release on this drink, it is” for hardworking and hard playing Americans. Re5 is the no-nonsense energy drink that gives the boost needed to refuel their system. For those loyal sports fans and everyday men and women, Re5 will revive their senses and refresh their energy.”
Well, it really wont do either of those 2 other things, as the kick is minimal and my senses are not really revived, but at least it looks purty when I hold it in my hand.
Buzz/Nutrition:4
This is basically a vanilla flavored Red Bull, with a meals worth of calories in it. There is just a lot of B vitamins in here, but no other normal energy drink nutrients, like taurine – and like the other prilabs products, they actually list Carbon Dioxide as an ingredient. Isn’t that a gas/non-digestible? Basically, this is a very very sour pop with an undisclosed amount of caffeine ( my guess is around 150 -180 per can) and 260 empty calories. At least they knocked down a bit of the unhealthy by using sugar to sweeten it rather than High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Vanilla Red Bull. in a 16oz can. Really, seeing as this is made in Austria too, I would not be at all surprised to find out the company making this was Red Bull. About as original and unique and Red Bull is.

This is the only reason to buy this – you will immediately know if you see this can anywhere – it is a truly beautiful can from the incomprehensible logo to the lack of info on back. They do get points for adding their website ( which is pretty but lacks any info) to their phone number (which they do not return calls or ever answer ( and yeah – I tried calling them aver 8 times). If you have a choice to head into politics, holding this can will make your numbers rise instantly. If only the stuff inside was as good as the can outside…
Website:4 – http://re5energydrink.com/Re5.html
For being a site with absolutely no information, and not having been updated in 2 full years, the site still looks surprisingly clean and nice. The design is fantastic – with the flash not too overbearing and concentrating on the concept of a patriotic drink with it pictured with baseball, football, and other Great American pastimes. Why the low score then? Well, if you are going to have an update section, it would be good to not have the last update with a 4-16-06 datestamp. There are sections stating “coming soon” which it is now painfully obvious is never going to work. Even worse, the sections that are forever coming soon are a giveaway contest and media contact information – 2 things I would have really enjoyed. Shame this site died for this drink so long ago – the site, like the drink, had some real promise.
