Wired has a very impressive lineup of drinks, covering the gamut from the weakest and worst tasting energy drinks to some of the very best. This one is so average – even the taste of the tropical flavor comes off as more of an energy drink than as anything really unique. So why is this any different from their “Taurine Mango Passionfruit” or “Citrus Punch?” It really isn’t. Ill bet that even if you put the executives behind this drink at Unique Beverage in a blind taste test, they could not taste the differences between this flavor and their others.
Taste: 5
This could be a blend of mango and passion fruit, or it could be a mix of a grapefruit flavor and pineapple. More likely, it is a mix of citrus and sodium, but either way it is a pretty meager offering from This great company. I think what happened to Unique Beverages is that their generous spirit got away from them, and they came out with way too many flavors to appeal to every whim. This does not taste so different from the rest of their flavors to really merit a different energy drink. If you had to shrink their product line., this is one flavor that can really be merged into their other flavors.
Nutrition/Buzz:5
This flavor also refuses to make any differences in Buzz as the great number of their drinks too. Like most of the other wireds, this one has over your daily recommended allowance of vitamin B, inositol and a weak 94 milligrams of caffeine. In comparison, this can of wired would have the same caffeine in an 8oz cup of Folgers.
This also has more or less the other ingredients in it, except the change in artificial flavors. The sweetness comes from High Fructose Corn Syrup, and is packed full of preservatives. Overall, this weak drink is about as natural and healthy for you as a Twinkie.
Packaging:5
This can is orange. Why orange? My guess is the already used up all the other color palettes on their other dozen or so drinks. This is the standard Wired can template design, only changed around the hue the tiniest bit. While not bad, this one does nothing to stand out from the rest of the pack. With all their designers, layout people and creativity they have seen in the past, this is a me too can which manages to be a complete waste of time.
