Wired X Burner

Wired X burner is a really good idea, but as an energy drink it leaves a little something to be desired. I like that weight loss ingredients are in here and the drink is healthy, but unfortunately, the taste and buzz from this can is only mediocre. Still, the last time I heard of an energy drink that makes you lose weight turned out to just be carbonated green tea.

Nutrition/Buzz:4
The big differentiators between this drink and a low carb Wired is the addition of Citrimax, a hugely popular diet and weight loss supplement. Citrimax is a plant extract that comes from the South Asian fruit ‘Garcina cambogia’.The dried rind has been used for centuries throughout Southeast Asia as a food preservative, flavoring agent and carminative. This contains naturally occurring hydroxy citric acid, which has proved to be an appetite suppressant. Even better, Citrimax blocks the fat deposits in our body and promotes metabolism. So weight loss and diet circles have been all about this – arguing if appetite suppressing pills are worth it. According to medical double blind trials, 2800 mg a day is safe for human consumption, and works if taken regularly for months…
Of course, 28 grams of anything in an energy drink would definitely taste overkill. Their site lists this as 830 mg per can. This means that you could drink these like water and probably not feel the effects or lose any weight from this burner.
In terms of outright energy, this can is also pretty light. 1000mg of taurine and only 97mg of caffeine for the entire 16oz can, less than Red Bull or Monster. Even with all the metabolism stuff I found my energy waning soon after downing a can. If you want a mellow kick – and are looking for a drink which, if nothng else, won’t make you gain weight, this might be a good choice. But for most drinkers, this drink has potential, but the doses of nutrients are just too low.

Taste: 4
Maybe the fact that this is a low-sodium drink, but the flavor just is not right without the salt. It tasted a lot like a Red Bull clone – but with more citric acid and definitely more bite. This drink also seemed very carbonated, so it is hard to drink fast. Some might like this, some might find it undrinkable, but it is not sweet like a soda. I think this drink might appeal to those who are trying to have an energy drink, but also keep up healthy appearances. I found this hard to get down, and the sour made my jaws hurt.

Packaging:5
While I like the basic design, it does not really fit the basic theme of this drink. It is bright red, and the X burner is written in a big extreme font. While it works ok for any regular energy drink, for a diet drink with low sodium and citrimax is really misses the mark. Something that looks more diet-y would be much more befitting to something with these nutrients. I would think this would be better in a white can with light blue lettering, something in the range of Atkins or weight watchers.
This is pretty average except for a couple noticeable omissions from the nutrition list. I had to go onto their site to get a citrimax, caffeine and tarine count, the things this drink is trying to tout. If any of their line were to get a face job, I would start with this one.

Website:8 www.wiredenergydrink .com
This is a great site – and like the drink provide a no-frills nearly perfect design. Fast layout, great pictures, and get you everything you need from the site in a hurry. I really like the use of huge fonts, and putting the main point of the website ( its about the drinks, dummy) front and center. The pictures of the cans and listings are big and beautiful – but the other categories are pretty superfuluous. I don’t know why anyone at all would ever download Wired screensavers. I also found lots of macromedia code inside the page, as well as a TON of javascript built right into the page to slow it down. While I appreciate the design, the choice of categories and the html code leave something to be desired.
