Battery gingered

Thanks to some very nice distributors in the US, I was able to get my hands on another fantastic European energy drink from Battery – a very popular drink on the other side of the ocean. Battery is made by a Finnish company, although it seems to be wholly owned by the same folk who bring you Fosters lager. Regardless, if you are lucky enough to find this can in parts of Californi, consider yourselves very lucky. Internationally it is much easier to find, as it is all over europe, russia, australia and africa, even in south america and Hong Kong. In the US though – looks like a road trip is called for.

Ginger flavor, while very common to find as an ingredient, is pretty rare to find as a flavor for energy drinks. Other than a couple hard to find Energy drinks out there, Ginger ale is stuck in the backlogs of soda flavors, like Bubble Up or red cream soda. This drink has a ton of ginger in it, although it is not really a ginger beer or ginger ale. This is more like a sweet ( but not overly sweet) ginger soda – without the sourness or bite of ginger beers. And even better is the energy, which will keep you up and moving for hours as well.

Great unique can – looking like a soda can only not quite. It is a little smaller and squatter, coming in an ounce shorter than regular soda cans. The silver and black design is great, using white outlines to make the bare aluminum look silvery and more shiny than a normal base aluminum would. Because this drink is straight from Finland, the can looks written in Suomen Kieli, the native Finnish tongue, although also listing in another languge I dont speak. The can is in every way looking like some futuristic battery used to power hovercars or laser pain guns or something equally awesome. The font choices are superior, very futuristic yet still very easy to read. While it makes it hard to read the ingredients listing, that is purely my fault – as I did not brush up on my foreign languages.

This drink will get you bouncing! Maybe not as hard as some really hardcore drinks, but the 106mg of caffeine is a pretty decent boost, expecially with all the other energy drink stuff, including all your vitamin Bs, 1320mg of taurine, and even a small dose of protein! As for the other stuff, until I find someone from Finland I might be out of luck. what I do know is I am buzzed, without jitters and sublimely happy with the boost I had for at least 2 solid hours before slowly tapering off.

Very trippy and a great use of flash. very slick design elements and chock full of info. As long as your computer is strong enough to play some pretty big flash movies, this one is pretty damn cool. There are some UI issues, in that the animation and cool takes a backseat to the animation and slick – which is not the priority. I have to wait quite a while and play with the navigation to find out who to call if I wanted to find the drink in my area. So as long as you are going just to browse and not for company or drink information it is very nice.
