BooKoo Wildberry Zero Carb

This has got to be one of the best big cans of energy around. Right size, great use of ingredients, exactly what the market was needing. This is not Healthy. This is not Organic. This is an energy drink that does just what it it meant to do without redefining the category. Great taste, great punch, cool can – what more do you need… And just in case you don’t like berry, they do it in citrus too. It seems that along with revamping their company, they are revamping this drink can, and while I Love this package, the new design is wicked. When Red Bull is not right, and Monster is boring, grab a can of this without hesitation.

Buzz/Nutrition:9
240mg of caffeine in the 16 oz can. 2000 mg of taurine, sucralose, caffeine, acesulfame potassium, glucuronolactone, inositol, and B Vitamins. pretty basic, but that’s OK. No calories, No carbs, and what’s even better – No crash! none at all – and I have crashed from all their other sugary drinks. I got 4 hours of happy energy and slipped into normal more after.

Not as strong as the original and definitely not as sweet. The sour of the berry was actually much improved over the carbful variety, as the overwhelming flavor is berry, not sugar. It is also energy drink flavored – if that makes sense. Every once in a while, not having a milk-thistle-ashwaganda-green-tea drink, also not full of odd wood-rosin-BHT-arsenic tinged ingredients is so nice. I liked this drink over every single Rockstar I have ever had – and by now I think I have had them all.

Like most of Boo Koo’s cans, this one is well thought out and lovely. like the smaller power shot, the name sparkles and stands out from the background, and the can exudes an aura of power. What I really liked was the use of color to emphasize the important art, while the darker colors for the flames and unneeded frills faded quietly in the background. The choices of turquoise and purple on black are not normally used in energy drinks, but manage to work very very well here.

Checkout the site to get a look at the new can. I did not think you could improve much over their old design – but appear to have been mistaken. Don’t mind the hot pink/purple color – as I am comfortable in my color gender (as a matter of fact, the association of pink/purple for feminine colors did not happen in this country until the 1950’s. Before that it was actually reversed, where boys got the pink hats). As for the rest of the site, its fine. Completely what was expected. Overuse of Newcastle, and other Gothic fonts, “extreme” illustrator work with a distressed grunge background. There is a shop where you could buy some Boo Koo stuff, but nothing particularly amazing. It looks like what a design team would put together for appealing to teens/18-34 year old males. It completely lacks originality or creativity, instead opting for the easy out.
