Monster Lo-Carb Energy drink

For many years this was my staple energy drink pf choice. It was cheap, tasted great and delivered a great kick. I still occasionally go back to it, but their over-marketing turned me off a bit – and led my way down the dark and jittery path of overcaffeine consumption.
But then I saw the newest Big Can. Now not the BFC they have out – this is the 24oz with the resealable top I saw first on Jolt a couple years ago. For huge drinks, this top is a real lifesaver, letting you have some, and actually save some for later. This is a first class invention that goes beyond the gimmick and is actually practical.
I forgot how much I liked this drink. IT loads you up on artificial ( I presume) caffeine and keeps you running for hours. I did not feel the crash from this for about 7 hours – not that I was buzzed for that length of time, but it kept me from falling asleep before I got to bed. I’ll bet that now that I remember the pleasant taste and strong kick, Ill be more forgiving of their monster advertising campaign pushes.

Buzz/Nutrition:8
Great buzz – I really needed my drug of choice last night – fighting back the sleep headache that was making it hard to think and work. Monster fixed me right up – and the crash was gradual enough that I could see it coming and make sure I was in my happy place (bed) when it struck me. The caffeine content of Monster energy drinks is 10 mg/oz or 240 mg for my 24oz can – which is plenty enough to do the trick. There is also lots of taurine in here, so you get that gummy flavor . It has all the EDM essentials (niacin, b, guarana, Ginseng, etc.) and this size can loads you up on 3 times the recommended dosage ( Ill have some extra fortified pee soon) But still managed to be only 30 calories, which I really appreciate.

Taste:8
Sweet melon flavors and tartness from the taurine give monster it’s trademark taste. Hansen’s did right when developing this taste, making it easy to drink and not so sweet it is like syrup. Swweetening with sucralose – used now in 4,500 food and beverage products. I know many people who are adverse to Splenda as a sweetener, but until the FDA tells me will kill me, I don’t really mind having it in my food

The pop top is a great invention, and one I think should be employed as a matter of fact on most huge energy drinks. The insulated shaped can also makes it the prefect reusable container for water or drink bottles throughout the day as well. The monster logo is everywhere, thanks to their very aggressive marketing campaign, as well as being distributed by Anheuser-Bush, and now by Pepsi. In terms of their loo – it is still one of the best designed out there, and the bottle does well showing it off and keeping it simple.

  1. These are great and low in sugar.

Just make sure you also drink a water with it, as all stimulants will dehydrate you.
