Wired x-3000 mango poassionfruit

I did not know what to expect from this drink – as wired tends to confuse me easily with their 324 different drink choices. Ok, I might be exaggerating a little but on their website I found at least 25 different drinks – not including this one which could not be found anywhere on their site. From their ultra sexy xxx flavor to diet berry – there is no end to the flavor innovation from Wired.

Taste:7
This is supposed to be a fruity flavor. seeing as I am having this right after eating fresh mangos and passionfruits on a beach in Mexico, I can say without doubt that there is not a whole lot of mango or passionfruit in this. What there is of it is probably some sort of natural flavorings – not to be confused with using actual mango or passionfruit juice. I would say this flavor is more cranberry than mango – and definitely is not exotic. That does not mean it does not taste bad though. I liked the fruitiness and citrus flavor quite a lot- but it is not what I was expecting. The taurine adds an extra sour gumminess, but it does taste oversour or bitter.

Nutrition/Buzz:6
While not a powerhouse of energy, this drink still comes in a decent 182mg of caffeine per can. Kind of odd, as most energy drinks keep the caffeine content at even numbers, like the 80mg for Red Bull, 100mg for Who’s Your Daddy and many others… So the 96mg in here is a little strange. The 3000mg of taurine is nice, as well as all the b vitamins. The High Fructose Corn Syrup is not that great – and makes this drink more soda-ish and heavier than they needed to. While not an amazing drink, this fares all right. If you are a big Taurine fan, then this is the drink for you – more than most other energy drinks. In terms of energy, I got a decent couple hours buzz on the beach.

I liked the bright yellow of the can, while still fitting in with the rest of their line with flames and arrows. I liked the color scheme, and the extreme-ness and the fonts were very easy to read. This is in every way a nice solid energy drink – although not very stellar. I liked the listing of all their ingredients, as well as their website – even though they are not listed on the site anywhere.

This is a great site – and like the drink provide a no-frills nearly perfect design. Fast layout, great pictures, and get you everything you need from the site in a hurry. I really like the use of huge fonts, and putting the main point of the website ( its about the drinks, dummy) front and center. The pictures of the cans and listings are big and beautiful – but the other categories are pretty superfluous. I don’t know why anyone at all would ever download Wired screensavers. I also found lots of macromedia code inside the page, as well as a TON of javascript built right into the page to slow it down. While I appreciate the design, the choice of categories and the html code leave something to be desired.
