Wired Xsport Isotonic

Wired just keeps the energy drinks coming, from the most boring flavors to the most intriguing ones you could find. Wired Xsport Isotonic is definitely one of the more interesting varieties of Wired, using a blend of carbohydrates, nutraceuticals, vitamins, minerals and amino acids to prevent fatigue and allow your body to burn energy instead of muscle, instead of just loading you up with caffeine. What I am not sure of is how this is an isotonic drink. Most movement is isotonic, from lifting an object off a desk, walking to get more donuts , and running from the cops involve isotonic contractions. So the name is silly, but I get teh point. This is a sport energy drink much the same as Hansen’s Energade or Hydrive E.

Seeing as this weekend is perfect for yardwork, I thought it was a great time to test out the hydration and energy needed for a good weekend housecleaning. After drinking part of the can at the beginning of chores, and the rest of the can afterwards, I finished four hours later with tons of extra enery, and no fatigue afterwards. In other words, this stuff really does work, providing a nice gentle boost while not oveloading, as well as providing the needed refreshment and potassium after a hard day gigging in the dirt.

Taste:8
Overall, these taste pretty decent, much in commin with their other energy drinks with a standard “Red Bull” Flavor. In this case I did not mind at all, as it came across a little vanilla and no bitter or sour. This was both refreshing and rehydrating, tasting exactly like I hoped it would. This is not very sweet, but not tart either. Just a nice blend of Fructose, Sugar and sucralose to make thigs sweet without syrup or overkill.

Nutrition:9
Wired is always coming up with interesting ideas for thier drinks, and this is no exception. This drink contains 3000% RDI of B12, a bucketload of Potassium, 600% RDI Vitamin B6, 200% RDI Vitamin B3 100 mg, and the usual energy drink chemicals, Inositol, heavy sodiumand a little Taurine.
In terms of caloroes this drink has only 80 calories for 16 ounces, which is pretty nice. This also only has 94 milligrams of caffeine – which is llow for energy drink standards, but works well enough to give you a boost through your workout and to help you recover after one. This stuff worked really well for me during my day of sweaty physical activity, and would take it again in a heartbeat.

Packaging:4
This fits with all the other Wired drinks, with the only change being in the color scheme, a horrible acrylic Smurf blue on orange, with a big red X, and a litle more red outlining the letters. This really does not work. AT ALL.The rest of the can is nice enough and does everything allright, from the little intro paragraph to the clean and nice printing job. But, this color sceme is REALLY REALLY BAD. For a drink this good, they really should have put this in a nice clear PET bottle – This drink would be a sure fire hit if they cleaned up the container.
