Hi-Ball Energy Water

Updated post for another Hi Ball flavor

Anyone remember new york seltzer water from the 80’s? it was a wildly poplular ultra hip yuppie drink, that also tasted darn good. There is still people frothing at the mouth for this stuff, finding odd cases of the stuff at Big Lots! and hoarding cases. Unfortunately, the drink is no more, and the world is left a little less hip.
Trying to fill that void is hi-ball energy water – a no sugar, no calorie, slightly flavored energy drink, and designed by the creator’s very talented wife. Everything about this drink makes you feel cooler and more bohemian than a drink really should. I have tried all the flavors I could find (grapefruit, regular, wild berry and orange) and they are all very tasty and makes me wish I was wearing more hemp clothing and my scooter was running at the moment.
So not only is this drink not made by extreme sports nuts or mega-corporations, it also tastes and looks light years above h20water or waterjoe. If you are in the localWhole Foods/Wild Oats it is certainly worth switching to hoarding cases of these instead.

buzz/nutrition: 6
hi-ball has unfortunately, not enough caffeine in one bottle. a bottle has 75 mgs of caffeine, or about a shot of espresso. So 2 of these is necessary to get any real buzz – even with the addition of guarana and the taurine/B vitamin energy mix. There is 32 mgs of guarana too, which I thought would help boost this up to acceptable caffeine standards, but my buzz was seriously lacking after this, and needed a can of diet mountain dew to get my mojo working. I liked that there was absolutely no caffeine bitterness, and it was not at all tasted in any of the drinks, but it really should be a bit stronger to make it a true energy drink competetor on a national scale.

Taste:
Very refereshing drink – overall no taste, and very very bubbly. the best perrier-ish drink out there. I like the grapefriut one the best but they are all very light and refreshing.

Packaging:
Without a doubt this is the best part of the product. alyssa warnock designed these bottles and should be gettting all sorts of awards (money, kudos from her husband) for this design, perfectly capturing a niche and securing a very high end market for themselves. It sums up what is best about this drink – it is clear and refreshing and upscale. This is the drink you buy from your high priced deli or upscale supermarket – very very classy. This is one bottle I am going to keep around
