On Go Berry Energy shot

Mini-Thin Rush might have been the best energy shot I have tasted in 2008, but that flavor falls flat when you can place it next to the amazingness of On Go Wildberry. This shot is possibly the best tasting energy shot ever made. Not joking – this stuff could be topped with whipped cream in a dessert cup. with no calories they managed to make something that is energy boosting and delicious. In terms of functionality, this stuff is also decent, providing a nice boost of energy without being over the top – but if you are looking for something after a workout or before something athletic – this is the shot for you.

Different than so many other energy shots, this one is fueled with electrolytes. Electrolytes control electrical impulses on your cell membranes, and working out uses these up. That is why drinks like Gatorade were invented. That was added to the usual energy drink amino acids of n-acetyl-l-tyrosine, malic acid, l-pheylalanine, l-glutamine, beta carotene, and the enzyme blend of amylase, protease, lipase, cellulose, and lactase. What all those mean is that this has enough energy in it to keep you moving for a good 3-4 hours no problem. While there is no caffeine listing, my guess it is is under 100mg – but still powerful enough to get your body perked. In terms of health, this is decent, using sucralose for a sweetener and 0 calories.

The only thing that would make this even more exciting is an addition of the minerals and vitamins that your body rips through while working out too – as really hard gym time leaves me pretty depleted. I still end up searching for high levels of protein and vitamins in some food after working out, but a boost to help me keep moving this stuff rocks.

The Best Tasting Energy Shot You Will Drink This Year. This tastes like berry Jamba Juice smoothie or a frozen fruit confection. Without any comparison this is so fantastic, I wish it came in much bigger bottles. The only issue I have seen is that there is a definite sucralose flavor to it – which i don;t mind. IF you want to go for natural or have a problem with artificial sweeteners you might have an issue, but then you probably would have a problem with about 90 percent of all the reviews I have done. This is not saccharine or even calorie laden high fructose anything.
I know it is still early in the year, but I would e surprised if this were not the best tasting energy shot of 2009.

On Go features the usual bottle that 5 hour energy made famous. This little thing has the plastic wrap that gets ripped off when opening the bottle – so the OC energy drinkers end up with fits trying to not shred their label while opening. The design is very very nice, but they also do not feel the need to list their caffeine content – which I think is a mistake. What I do like is that even in a world when energy shots are the least designed, On Go takes their time to come up with a very pleasing color palette and overall layout. I just hope that it stands out from the market enough to catch hold – as the design is one that easily blends in to the other shots taking up register counter space. The drink is good enough that with the right marketing it could easily become a major player in the energy shot market.
