Xyience Xenergy Apple Jak’d

Before you start this review, please click on the youtube link to catch the right flavor for this applejacked drink.

How many times have you, or anyone you know of had an apple soda? When was the last time you have seen anyone over the age of 13 even decide to choose to drink an apple juice? Chances are, not that you can remember. Apple is the cheapest and basest of all drinks – the lowliest flavor, doomed forever to be used as juice filler and preschoolers. Unless you steal your kids juice box, the last time time you had any apple flavored drink at all was when it was used for some other, tastier flavored juice that cost too much to be pure. Unless you go for a grape juice base, mostly all those fruit juices are made of apples because it is just so cheap and sugary.

Really, when was the last time you have even seen an apple flavored anything? Unless you do your shopping at Mexican markets, you might never even come across one. So why would Xyience choose apple as a flavoring for their soda? Have they rn out of all the other flavors? Was there a deep seated desire for apple drinks in some part of America? Is their a special Martial Art that surrounds itself around apples(Xyience does sponsor the UFC) which helps their fighters get Popeye muscles? Their website seems to suggest it, informing us that “From the streets to the cage, this stuff will make you tough. It’s an assault on your taste buds. Xtreme Apple is Jak’d up on energy and furious to the core(ha ha). Take your energy to the next level with this Xtreme formula.”

For as tasty as this flavor is, with so many other choices out there from Xenergy, I have a feeling this one is destined to go sour.

Taste:7
And really, that is OK. With all their other flavors, this one is really not che pick of the crop. Not that it is bad per se, but it tastes a whole lot like apple candy (not that there are many apple candies either…) I am sure that there might be real apple connoisseurs out there, people who can tell the difference between a roman and a gala apple, but those people would be disappointed by this fake flavor. While I did not mind it, this is certainly not going to start any flavor revolutions either – with people demanding more Apple Fantas and Martinellis.

Nutrition:9
This is one of the stronger, more powerful blends from Xenergy, coming in their cool black cans. That means this has a decent blend of B vitamins and potassium, electolytes all the regular energy drink stuff (glucurolactone, ginseng, L-carnitine and inositol), plus 250of caffeine, and their special secret Popeye ingredient of Spinach??
Overall the blend does what it is supposed to do, and provides a very decent boost, about as much as a triple shot of espresso. I got a good 5 hour boost from it, with a pretty wicked buzz after the first half hour or so.

Packaging:8
I love the black drinks instead of their plain others – it just looks prettier. But Apple Jak’d is the flavor? Really? Applejack brings to mind hard liquor (nothin’ says drinking straight out of the still like a bottle of applejack), big breasts ( see above video) and someone stealing an Ipod. Other than that, I liked the can well enough. They kept out their grunge fonts, put the lid on right and double faced the can.
