Xyience Xenergy Cherry Lime

Xyience’s latest energy drink flavor, Cherry Lime, is a great addition to their already delicious lineup. Like the others , this one is sugar free, calorie free and low in carbs. This chemical concoction turns out pretty well – if not amazingly. I still prefer the power of their new black packaged drinks, but in a pinch, this would do nicely.

Reminded me of drinking grenadine in sprite – which is a fantastic non-alcoholic concoction. While I only had one can to try out, I did have a very small glass of this mixed with some New Amsterdam Gin and I gotta tell you, I need to go out and get one of these as a mixer tonight. This has got to be one of the tastier cocktails I have made with all my drinks – and one I will definitely turn to in the future.

This can is lovely – fitting in with the rest of the Xenergy design. Nothing award winning, but decently designed, especially knowing how this can looked a couple years ago. The fonts and printing are all nice and clean, and they double faced the cans, to make it easier on the stockers.

Still, it bugs me that they hide their caffeine in a “proprietary blend”. The lid seemed pretty haphazardly placed on the rest of the can – and the fact that the logo shines out as you are drinking seems more of an accident than an on-purpose decision. With a little more attention, this can could be truly superb, but for now it is just “nice enough”.

Nutrition/Buzz:8
This has all your basic energy drink regulars, from the B vitamins, potassium and sodium, to the guarana AND caffeine, as well as the energy drink blend of taurine, glucuronolactone, ginseng, inositol and l-carnitine.

I was not terribly impressed with the energy from this one, but there is an OK amount of boost. My guess is there is around 80-90mg of caffeine per serving – about as much as a Red Bull or Monster. Compared to the boost in the black can, this one is not that amazing. This one might be good for the tail end of a medium intensity workout – with the potassium as a refuel and enough caffeine to keep you from getting exhausted after.
